College Student Development within the Context of Formalized Sport in American Higher Education

چکیده

Those providing and managing sport in primary, secondary post-secondary educational settings must be cognizant of the need for programs to enhance, rather than detract from, environment. American education provides an important context inquiry two primary reasons. First, college enrollment marks a significant period transition individuals who are at developmentally impressionable stage their lives. Second, roughly 80% all students participate some form physical activity during time on or university campus, with half them participating formal sport. Two bodies literature provide guidance managers US higher education: 1) development theory 2) student theory. This paper aims road map facilitate conversation between these unpack potential contribution individual participants colleges universities.
